Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour the foundation that provides structure.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder rich and aromatic, giving your muffins a deep, chocolatey flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder for that perfect rise in your muffins.
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda ensuring a light and airy texture.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt enhancing the sweetness of the chocolate.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar adding a lovely caramel touch and moistness.
  • 2 large eggs binding the ingredients together while adding richness.
  • 1 cup plain yogurt for a moist crumb and tangy flavor.
  • 1/3 cup milk ensuring the batter comes together smoothly.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil promoting moisture and a tender texture.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract infusing warmth and depth.
Chocolate
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chocolate chunks for that extravagance in every bite.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a larger bowl, combine the packed brown sugar, eggs, yogurt, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk these ingredients together until they are thoroughly mixed and smooth.
  4. Pour the dry ingredient mixture over the wet ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
  5. Portion the batter into the lined muffin cups, filling each one to the very top.
Baking
  1. Place the muffin tin in the center of the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Check for doneness by inserting a skewer into the center of a muffin; it should come out clean or with a little chocolate.
  3. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate chips for a richer flavor, add texture with nuts, and don't skip the cooling step for optimal texture.
