Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced or cut into quarters Fresh strawberries for sweetness
  • 2 cups cranberries, halved Fresh cranberries for tartness

Method

Preparation
  1. Chop the strawberries and cranberries before measuring them.
  2. If the cranberries are large, cut them into quarters.
Cooking
  1. In a large pot, combine the chopped strawberries, halved cranberries, and sugar. Mix gently to coat the berries with sugar.
  2. Place the pot over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, ensuring the fruit pieces remain identifiable.
  3. Allow to simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally and skimming off any white foam.
  4. Continue cooking until the jam thickens to your desired consistency—remember it will thicken more as it cools.
Bottling
  1. Follow proper food-safe guidelines for bottling if storing for longer than a couple of weeks.

Notes

Taste the jam while cooking; if you prefer it sweeter, add more sugar. For extra depth of flavor, try a splash of lemon juice or vanilla extract towards the end.
