Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Juicy and flavorful, the foundation of your meatballs.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a rich, salty flavor that enhances the meat.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Creamy and stretchy, perfect for melting.
  • 1 cup marinara sauce A vibrant and tangy sauce that brings the whole dish together.
  • 1 egg Acts as a binder, keeping your meatballs moist and intact.
Seasonings and Herbs
  • 1 tsp salt Essential for enhancing all the flavors.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper Adds a subtle warmth.
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional) For those who like a little kick.
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley Brightens the dish with its aromatic, herby flavor.
  • 1 clove garlic (minced) Adds depth of flavor that complements the beef.
  • 1 tsp thyme A fragrant herb that elevates the dish's complexity.

Method

Prepare the Mixture
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated Parmesan, salt, chili flakes (if using), chopped parsley, black pepper, thyme, minced garlic, and the egg. Use your hands to mix thoroughly, ensuring all the ingredients are well integrated.
Form the Meatballs
  1. Using a #20 scoop, portion out the meat mixture, and roll each scoop into a ball with your hands.
First Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 390°F (200°C). Place the meatballs in an oven-safe dish and bake for 15 minutes.
Flip and Continue Baking
  1. After 15 minutes, carefully flip each meatball over. Return them to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Add Sauce and Cheese
  1. Remove the dish from the oven, cover the meatballs with marinara sauce, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Final Bake
  1. Pop the dish back into the oven for 10 more minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is beautifully golden brown.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Once out of the oven, garnish with fresh parsley or basil leaves and serve hot.

Notes

Mixing the ingredients with your hands ensures the texture is just right. For an extra flavor boost, try mixing in other cheeses or herbs.
