Method

Cooking the Vegetables

  2. Once the oil is shimmering, add the ½ medium diced onion, 1 medium diced green bell pepper, and 1 finely chopped jalapeño.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.
Combining the Ingredients
  1. Add 2 chopped tomatoes, 2 diced cloves of garlic, ½ teaspoon of dried Mexican oregano, ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika, ¼ - ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and ¼ cup of water to the saucepan.

Blending the Salsa

  2. Taste and adjust with additional salt and black pepper if needed.

Notes

Roast tomatoes for added flavor. For milder salsa, remove jalapeño seeds. Consider adding mango or other fruits for sweetness.
