Method
Preparation
- Generously season the Angus N.Y Strip Steak with fresh ground black pepper and salt. Let it sit at room temperature to absorb the flavors.
Cooking the Steak
- Place a cast iron skillet over high heat and add the salted butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary.
- Add the marinated steaks and sear until cooked halfway through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
Sautéing Mushrooms
- In the same skillet, add olive oil, followed by minced garlic after 30 seconds. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add sliced baby Bella mushrooms and cook until tender, stirring occasionally.
Making the Creamy Sauce
- Pour in the heavy whipping cream along with ground black pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Taste for salt and garlic intensity, and adjust if needed.
Combining and Serving
- Return the cooked steaks to the skillet and coat them in the creamy sauce. Simmer on medium-low heat until the steaks reach desired doneness, about 5-10 minutes.
- Top with fresh herbs if desired and serve with sides like steak fries or baked potato wedges.
Notes
Allow the steak to rest after cooking to retain its juices. For a richer flavor, consider adding balsamic vinegar or Dijon mustard to the sauce. Substitute steak with portobello mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
