Ingredients

  • 3 pieces Angus N.Y Strip Steak About 2.5 lbs, known for rich marbling.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ground black pepper For marinating the steak.
  • 1 1.5 tsp Salt Essential for seasoning.
Creamy Sauce Ingredients
  • 1/2 stick Great Value Salted Butter
  • 1 tbsp Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tsp Great Value Organic Garlic Powder
  • 2 cups Great Value Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 tbsp Great Value Extra Virgin Olive Oil Used for sautéing the mushrooms.
  • 8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms (Sliced) Adds umami flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Sam's Choice Black Pepper (fresh ground) For the sauce.
Aromatics
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves For sautéing.
  • 1 stems Fresh rosemary stems Adds aromatic layers.

Method

Preparation
  1. Generously season the Angus N.Y Strip Steak with fresh ground black pepper and salt. Let it sit at room temperature to absorb the flavors.
Cooking the Steak
  1. Place a cast iron skillet over high heat and add the salted butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary.
  2. Add the marinated steaks and sear until cooked halfway through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
Sautéing Mushrooms
  1. In the same skillet, add olive oil, followed by minced garlic after 30 seconds. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add sliced baby Bella mushrooms and cook until tender, stirring occasionally.
Making the Creamy Sauce
  1. Pour in the heavy whipping cream along with ground black pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens slightly.
  2. Taste for salt and garlic intensity, and adjust if needed.
Combining and Serving
  1. Return the cooked steaks to the skillet and coat them in the creamy sauce. Simmer on medium-low heat until the steaks reach desired doneness, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Top with fresh herbs if desired and serve with sides like steak fries or baked potato wedges.

Notes

Allow the steak to rest after cooking to retain its juices. For a richer flavor, consider adding balsamic vinegar or Dijon mustard to the sauce. Substitute steak with portobello mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
