Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 pieces 6 eggs These nutrient-rich gems are packed with protein.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Helps prevent the eggs from cracking during boiling.
  • enough water Water To completely submerge the eggs.
  • as needed ice Ice For creating an ice bath to halt the cooking process.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a pot large enough to hold the eggs in a single layer, pour in enough water to cover them completely along with the olive oil. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Using a spoon, gently place each egg into the boiling water, one at a time to prevent cracking.
  3. Set a timer and boil the eggs for 13 minutes for hard boiled eggs. For medium eggs, boil for 10 minutes, and for soft eggs, adjust to 3-6 minutes depending on desired runny yolk.
  4. While the eggs are boiling, prepare an ice bath in a bowl by filling it with water and adding enough ice.
  5. Once the timer goes off, carefully lift the eggs out of the boiling water using a slotted spoon and transfer them into the ice bath.
  6. Allow the eggs to chill in the ice bath for at least 10 minutes.
  7. To peel, do so under running cold water for the best results.

Notes

Freshness matters: Older eggs peel more easily. Adding vinegar or baking soda can help peel the eggs easier. Don’t skip the ice bath for the best texture.
