Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1.5 lb broccoli florets (rinsed and thoroughly dried; pre-washed is preferred)
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.75 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425° F.
  2. If using heads of broccoli, wash them thoroughly and cut into 1 ½-inch florets. Make sure the broccoli is completely dried.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of olive oil with minced garlic, ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, and kosher salt. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. Spread the broccoli out in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil and toss to coat.
  2. Roast the broccoli on the middle rack of the oven for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan and drizzle the broccoli with the seasoned olive oil. Toss the florets until they are evenly coated, then return them to the oven for another 8 minutes.
  4. After roasting, drizzle the broccoli with fresh lemon juice and toss once more.
Serving
  1. Serve and enjoy the deliciousness!

Notes

For an extra crunch, consider adding parmesan cheese during the last few minutes of roasting. Sprinkling fresh thyme or rosemary before serving adds a fragrant finish.
