Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with all remaining ingredients: garlic powder, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, bread crumbs, onion, green pepper, egg, honey BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and milk.
- Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into a football-like loaf on a large baking sheet and press gently in the center to create a 4-inch hole for the cheese filling.
- Layer the center with fresh mozzarella slices and cover with the rest of the meat mixture.
Glazing and Baking
- In a separate bowl, mix the glaze ingredients and lather half over the uncooked meatloaf.
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
- After 40 minutes, remove from oven and spread the remaining glaze over the top. Return to oven uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
Serving
- Once done, take the stuffed meatloaf out of the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
Notes
To ensure tenderness, avoid overmixing. Experiment with different cheeses and add herbs or vegetables for variety.
