Method
Preparation
- Start by placing a layer of graham crackers in the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry chocolate pudding mix with 1 1/4 cups of milk. Whisk until well blended and thick.
- Gently fold in half of the Cool Whip into the chocolate pudding mixture.
- Spread the chocolate pudding mixture evenly over the layer of graham crackers.
- Add another layer of graham crackers on top of the chocolate pudding.
- In a separate bowl, combine the dry vanilla pudding mix with the remaining 1 1/4 cups of milk. Mix until thick and incorporate the remaining Cool Whip.
- Pour the vanilla pudding mixture over the second layer of graham crackers and smooth it out.
- Add one last layer of graham crackers on top.
Cooking
- In a saucepan, combine cocoa, granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup of milk. Boil over medium heat while stirring.
- Continue boiling for about one minute, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Stir in butter and vanilla extract until melted.
- Immediately pour the chocolate topping over the final layer of graham crackers, spreading evenly.
Chilling
- Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to meld and graham crackers to soften.
Notes
Consider adding sliced strawberries or bananas between layers for extra flavor. A drizzle of melted chocolate on top adds decoration.
